Our Story

Following the passage of the 2018 Farm Bill, hemp retail sales are on track to grow to $4.8 billion by 2022 – a compound annual growth rate of 27% – and the U.S. is currently the second largest market for hemp sales in the world.

The Farm Bill has sparked new and greater demand for hemp in the U.S., with a dramatic increase in interest among new farmers and entrepreneurs alike. This year we celebrated our 10th year of Hemp History Week® through hundreds of events nationwide, and the HIA® continues to see tremendous growth in our membership with over 1,500 members. Join over 750 attendees, 72  exhibitors and over 40 speakers and educators who represent HIA’s coalition partnerships in farm business, sustainability, herbal and dietary supplements as well as hemp companies, business services and brands showcasing product innovation.

HIA has developed many strategic and high-caliber organizational relationships in the last two years. We’re excited to share that with our membership. We believe in the benefit of knowledge and experience from new and emerging markets and have the goal to help facilitate greater opportunities for hemp as a commodity. Moving Forward Together means that the industries at-large are uniting to gain knowledge about hemp and also share perspectives as established leaders in the natural products industries, including policy and mitigating challenges ahead. Together, we can advance the hemp industries for the greater good and fulfill the promise of our mission statement.

This year’s HIACON® will be monumental for the HIA as the longest standing hemp conference in it’s 26th year. This year’s theme represents the incredible strides for the hemp industry nationwide. Forward Together not only represents how far we’ve come, but where we are going together as an industry. Members should plan to attend the Annual General Meeting, including the close of the annual Board of Directors election,  event on Friday, November 1. We welcome members and non-members both to join the top leaders and influencers in the hemp industries November 2 - 4 this year at The Westin hotel in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The mission of the Hemp Industries Association® (HIA), a 501(c)(6) membership-based non-profit trade association, is to advance the hemp economy and educate the market for the benefit of our members, the public, and the planet.
